Yea! We made it! Here’s a Battlestar Galactica:2003 story to read, while you gorge on candy (I love candy), Hungry Zombies Eat Lee Adama by sabaceanbabe.
Only eleven months until we get to do this again… please start writing Halloween stories for next year now.

Today is my favorite, most scary day of the year, Halloween! Here at FanLib, we focus a lot on your favorite fandoms, but what’s popular in the spirit world? I interviewed as many ghosts as I could find, and based on that, here’s the Spirit Top 10:
- Scary Potter
- Gilmore Ghouls
- Bones
- Scar Trek: KVP
- Supernatural
- Doctor Boo
- High Ghoul Musical
- Pushing Daisies
- Hellboy
- CSI - Creepy, Spooky Investigators
And do you know what ghosts like to drink when they party? Booooze… and spirits.
Happy Halloween, everyone!

It’s from our friends at The CW — a chance to help the Reaper send souls back to hell.
Staying in tonight? Here’s a list of scary fare to watch with the lights on!
SCI FI Channel has Ghost Hunters LIVE with a trip to Waverly Hills Sanatorium. It begins at 9:00 EST and you can follow the progress on the SCI FI Channel website.
AMC is running the Halloween movie saga and TCM has a mix of classic, but less often aired horror films featuring Boris Karloff and Bela Lugosi.
Bravo has a marathon session of the 100 Scariest Movie Moments and even Cartoon Network is in on the action with a Goosebumps Marathon which really is worth checking out.
Finally, there’s a truly gruesome episode of CSI NY tonight, with the techs investigating a murder at the infamous Amityville house. The episode was directed by horror master Joe Dante, so it should be a great ride.

Did Dark Water make you inspect the water glass before drinking it? Did you think twice before you put a tape in the VCR after seeing The Ring? Was The Grudge’s alternative setting a nice change of pace in the Horror genre? Did you know that all three originate from well known Japanese Horror movies?
As some people might have noticed already, Hollywood likes every now and then to look to foreign movie markets for inspiration and in later years, it’s been the Asian market, specifically the horror genre.
It started with The Ring starring Naomi Watts, where the little girl crawled out of the television set and frightened the American audience in 2002 and later continued to terrify the rest of the world. It originated from a Japanese adaption of a novel written in 1991. The first movie version of this novel was a TV movie (some say television show) that aired in 1995, but it’s the theatrical movie that came out in 1998 that awoke international interest. Ringu, as it was called was only the first movie in a trilogy. Originally there was a sequel made at the same time as Ringu that didn’t connect with the audience, so they made a new and improved one, Ringu 2, that did and followed up with a prequel, Ringu 0, that completely focused on Sadako’s background story and thereby concluded the Japanese trilogy.

Now, if you’ll excuse me I have to get this film developed to see if you show up in my pictures.
Fandom(s): TwilightQuick heads up for the anime folk. The Naruto site has just had a redesign/relaunch that looks pretty darn cool. It’s got episode summaries, illustrated character bios, e-cards, and a map of the world of Naruto. There’s an extras page with download-able Naruto wallpapers and an interactive Ninja Academy online game. Not bad, eh?
Your Naruto stories and videos are pretty cool too.
Oh yeah, non-anime folk are welcome to check it out as well.

If an agreement is not reached by tomorrow night, the WGA (Writer’s Guild of America) will likely go on strike bringing a near halt to TV production.
Almost all scripted TV series (reality series aren’t included ) are written by WGA members, this includes series such as Bionic Woman and Supernatural that are filmed in Canada. If a strike is called, these writers will walk out and any unfinished scripts will remain that way. The union has even asked writers to submit a list of their projects and their stages to assure that management doesn’t finish scripts or write new ones themselves.
Here’s a summary of what the WGA is looking for from Variety.
The WGA’s key proposals include doubling the DVD residuals rate; granting the guild jurisdiction over the Internet, animation and reality; boosting rates and residuals for the CW to equal those of the four major nets; and spelling out the terms and conditions of writing for digital platforms, with TV terms pro-rated down to two minutes and a 2.5% residual rate.
What does all this mean to you, the TV fan? If the WGA goes on strike, studios would produce the scripts they have completed (likely less than four episodes) and then they would have to shut down. The last strike, twenty years ago, lasted five months and cost the industry an estimated $500 million.
The question is, if the writers go on strike and your favorite show is forced into an extended hiatus are you likely to write MORE fiction to fill the gap or less? Personally, I get my muse from the weekly input a series brings, so a shut-down could shut down this fan writer as well!
Let’s honor Dumbledore and his lifestyle! He really did love Halloween. Here’s a story of a particularly magic one: A Halloween Prank by wingnutdawn from Harry Potter.
I’m considering being nearly headless Schinders this year, ’cause if my head weren’t attached I’d lose it.

I was lucky enough to have the chance to interview Shalim Ortiz this past Friday (No, I didn’t ask him the title question… not exactly, anyway). Shalim is one of the newest members of the cast of Heroes, playing Alejandro, who, along with his sister Maya, is on the road with Sylar. He thanked the show’s fans for being so supportive of, and patient with, the new characters. He promised that it would start to pay off tonight, when things would begin to get "hectic" for them with Sylar. He’s not allowed to say much more, but he loves the show, loves comic books, and yes, he has a girlfriend (sorry ladies). You can read the entire transcript for yourself:
Me: I went to look you up to research you, and your star meter* is number five! Congratulations.
Shalim: Thank you thank you.
Me: You’re hot!
Shalim: God, yeah, I learned what a star meter was when all this project kicked in, because I wasn’t very familiar, but, yeah, I hear that’s pretty cool. It’s a big show I guess.

Comic books have been movie fodder for many many years, but these days movie makers are trolling across the sea for great ideas. According to the industry newspaper Variety, manga will be the next big thing in Hollywood. Tokyopop, one of the largest manga publishers in the US, says that Hollywood loves a good comic book, but they’re running short of superheros. Manga adaptations provide a whole new field of virtually untouched stories that can be produced as either animated or live action movies.

The Extras Contest is in full swing. You have until Monday, November 5th to get your submission in. We’re giving away some great prizes including a skinned Playstation 3, so don’t miss out.
Our video submissions are really starting to roll in but there’s a debate about whether or not they should be limited to user generated submissions. What do you think? Anything goes, or should you only be allowed to upload videos you created yourself?
Talk about it here or at the FanLib Forums.
It’s getting scarier and scarier as the holiday draws near; ghosties and ghoulies prowl the streets, creatures crawling in search of blood, to terrorize your neighborhood… wait, that’s Thriller. Ah well. While we’re on the subject of spooky songs, here’s a Naruto Halloween ditty by ash123, This Is Halloween.
Enjoy!

Over on the FanLib forums the subject of the new Star Trek film came up, and it appears that some didn’t even know about it, or what they did know might be based on old rumors. So my friends at FanLib asked me to bring you all up to date on the latest for Trek’s return to the big screen.
The eleventh installment of the Star Trek franchise was green-lit in February. It is to be produced and directed by Lost creator J.J. Abrams from a script by Transformers scribes (and Abrams’ Alias collaborators) Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman. Lost co-creator Damon Lindelof is along for the ride as co-producer. Star Trek has come a long way (down) from the heights of the 80’s and 90’s where it was a cornerstone of Paramount’s profit, and by putting their A-Team (along with a $140 million+ budget) on it, the studio is banking on a reinvigoration of the venerable space opera.
As with his Lost series, the details on the plot are still very much under wraps, but a few tidbits have trickled out. The film is (mostly) a prequel to Star Trek: The Original Series with the entire crew of the original Starship Enterprise recast with fresh new actors including Chris Pine (Smokin’ Aces) as Kirk and Zachary Quinto (Heroes) as Spock. The original Spock, Leonard Nimoy, is also on board - presumably playing in some form of flash-forward or time travel segment. There is also a possibility that William Shatner may make an appearance as well, but that is looking increasingly less likely.

Guest Blogger Jenbachand examines the evidence in the case of the In and Out Actress. . .
The rumors have run thicker than blood at a gruesome crime scene throughout the CSI fandom since last May when Sara Sidle was left stranded in the desert under an overturned Mustang. Would Jorja Fox quit? Would she stay? How would Grissom react if Sara died under the car out in the desert? What was the status of contract negotiations for the rest of the cast?
After months of nervousness, some relief came. Commercials, spoilers and promo pictures started filtering out and we knew one thing, that Sara would live. Fans were relieved to see Jorja Fox listed in credits beyond the Season 8 premiere, and in being relieved, we set ourselves up for heartbreak.
The night of the premiere, TV Guide’s Ausiello had an interview with Jorja that unsettled a lot of excited fans. Though she didn’t come right out and say she was leaving, she told Ausiello to talk to her after November 9th.
